I watched the Night Watch and loved it, but then bought the book and loved this even more!!!
I am now a certain Sarah Waters fan and have just ordered 2 more of her books to read.
She really focuses on life in these periods as difficult as they are with the added adventure of young people exploring their sexuality.
Wonderful!!

I loved The Night Watch movie adaptation. I was really crazy about the adaptation. I just felt that the movie had some gaps because I think the time was really small. I just thought the movie should have been a little bigger have another episode maybe.
When I first saw how many time it would have I said "OMG what will happen with me when it ends". And I'm still thinking about it. I will watch a few more times and read to realise what happened with the end of the movie because for me it was a bit rushed.

I just finished "the Night Watch" and loved it.
Can't wait to see the BBC adapation.

No info on a possible air date is to be found on the fora and websites.
Looks like 'later this spring' probably means the summer.

I also recently bought the Virago tie-in edition online.
So it seems Virago wanted to release the tie-in edition to coincide with the festivals, and not with BBC TV.

Hope the BBC will not wait to long to air it.

Just saw The Night Watch at the closing night of the Boston LGBT Film Festival. It was fabulous, with a tremendous cast (though that wasn't how I pictured Kay, but the actress won me over) and incredible recreations of wartime London. Loved the music as well, really added a lot emotionally. My only complaints (minor) would be that it is too short (feels a bit rushed at the end, and Mickey is cut out completely, which is a loss), plus the end has been brightened up a bit from the book. But just a bit. And maybe the actress playing Julia looks a little too old, but she's very good. Otherwise, a complete pleasure. A superb adaptation of my favorite Waters book (so far!). I thought the technique used to convey the time shifts was clever and fresh. Haven't been able to find out when BBC will air it (supposed to be this Spring), but I hope BBC America will air it soon after that. (I'm guessing PBS won't touch it because of the nudity; if they do, they'll probably edit it, as they did Tipping the Velvet. Boo!) I will also definitely be buying the DVD. Now I need to go rewatch the first three Waters adaptations...Thank you BBC!!!!

'later this spring'... I'm checking out google and the bbc website twice a week cause I'm afraid to miss it! I live in Belgium and I don't often watch BBC (but at least am already lucky to be able to watch it in my country). Does anybody know when it's exactly aired?

I saw/bought all the other film adaptations and read all the books, including 'the night watch', so expectations are high :P

I very much enjoyed 'The Night Watch' as a novel and look forward to seeing it dramatised. Having seen, and been deeply drawn into, the other productions of Ms Waters' work, it will be interesting to see if this adaptation by Paula Milne varies in style from those by Andrew Davies.

The Little Stranger came with me on my last holiday and I carried the book everywhere with me, any spare moment was occupied with the story. I loved it. I recommended it to friends and after getting their feedback on who or what was responsible for the events that unfolded, I read it again and loved it even more. I will recommend this book but will not lend out my copy to anyone. Its too precious. Thank you Ms. Waters.

I feel honoured to have been chosen to give away 48 copies of Fingersmith & will be doing so on Saturday 5th March to tenants of Cadwyn Housing Association, in Cardiff at an event to mark the occasion. We're expecting some local authors to participate and would love it if Sarah would attend. Please forward the invitation. I'm really looking forward to it & hoping for a good response to this excellent book.
