Edinburgh Book Festival, Friday August 24th
RBS Main Theatre, 21:30. “Billingham and Brookmyre Are Indiscreet”
It’s always a delight when authors come together to celebrate the capricious spirit of creativity, and to show their profound respect for everyone who plays a part in their journey through the world of literature. But by half past nine we reckon you’re ready for the dark side. Mark Billingham and Christopher Brookmyre present a show where readings from their latest novels and the weighty discussion of genre are jettisoned completely in favour of cheap laughs and dirty stories. They will lift the lid on the real world of being a writer. The angry letters from readers. The backstage shenanigans. The banter and the bampots. Expect strong language, plenty of laughs and at least one extremely disturbing story about a chicken.
