Cover revealed for The Paying Guests

Virago is delighted to reveal the cover for Sarah Waters' new novel, The Paying Guests, which will be published on 28 August.

Publisher Lennie Goodings said: ‘Our Creative Director Duncan Spilling has given Sarah Waters' covers a distinctive look, inspired by the typography of the eras in which she sets her books. With The Paying Guests taking place in the 1920s, we wanted a cover which reflects the film posters and iconography of the period, and which hints at the tension and surprises contained within the novel. We love it, and we're sure her many fans will too.’

What excellent news. I'm just beginning to read Tipping The Velvet and have already read Sarah's other four books. I was already sad that this was possibly the last one! Then I clicked on her website and saw this new cover, just revealed today! Such great news. She is among my all-time favorite authors and so far, Affinity is my favorite of them all. Looking real forward to starting this one, her first novel — I guess I sort of read her in reverse order. But now — another one to look forward to! I will be first in line to nab it when it's released.

I am looking forward to another great read from Sarah. I have read all of her books thus far, which were page turners every one.
